About Us
In 2003, Simon and Lee-Anne McQueen took over the running of an existing swim school in Wynberg Park, then called Aquanaut swim school, with a vision to create a swimming education centre of excellence where children and adults from all walks of life can learn more about the essential life-skill of swimming, and strive to be the best they can be.
In the 9 years since, we have strived to inspire thousands of children to be the best that they can be through swimming. We aim to be at the forefront of swimming education in Cape Town through research, collaboration with other swimming centres and coaches, and the continual pursuit of excellence in what we do. Our greatest wish is to see swimming coaches and teachers in Cape Town working together to make the benefits of swimming as a life-skill and a sport available to the thousands of children and adults out there who have not yet had the opportunity to learn to swim.
Working towards these goals, in 2008 Splash Swimming pioneered a unique partnership between a small business and a primary school by enclosing and heating Wynberg Girls’ Junior School’s 25m training pool in exchange for the use of their pool. Through this partnership we have made significant improvements to the level of swimming at Wynberg Girls’ Junior School, and have provided an important and sought-after venue for children and adults from all walks of life to develop and perfect their swimming strokes, and to reach their swimming goals in our professional, well-researched and highly effective programmes.
We believe that we play an important role in helping our swimmers be the best that they can be. Whether they’re absolute beginners, they’ve come to us for a little help with their strokes (or a lot!), or they’re fairly experienced swimmers who want to achieve at galas or in another water-sport, we constantly strive to give our best to our swimmers, and in so doing, we hope to inspire them to do the same.
